“We Will Make EUR 110 Million Available to Our Investors to Combat Climate Change”

Stating that the Bank brings resources secured from international institutions together with new investments to support the sustainable transformation of the Turkish economy, TKYB CEO İbrahim Öztop said: “As Development and Investment Bank of Türkiye, we take responsibility for alignment with the principles of the Paris Agreement, to which our country is a signatory, and for the 2053 net-zero carbon objective. In this context, we have provided the necessary financing support to 236 energy projects with approximately 4,233 MW of installed renewable energy capacity. Around 80% of our portfolio consists of sustainability-themed loans. We contribute directly or indirectly to 15 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. As a Bank, we are making the EUR 100 million Climate Finance Loan signed between the German development bank KfW and the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance, together with an additional EUR 10 million grant funded by the German Government, available to investors. We are pleased that this agreement will enable us to support the reduction of greenhouse-gas emissions and sustainable development in our country. As we have done to date, we will continue working for Türkiye’s sustainable development. In addition, due to the tragic earthquake disaster in our country, we donated TRY 100 million to AFAD. We will continue supporting our citizens in the region in the period ahead.”

“We Take an Active Role in Developing the Venture-Capital Ecosystem”

Stating that the Bank resolutely continued direct investments through the Türkiye Development Fund, which it founded, Öztop said: “Through our Innovative and Advanced Technologies Fund, managed under the Türkiye Development Fund and focused particularly on defence-industry ventures, we invested in Beam Teknoloji. With this investment, we are providing financing to the cybersecurity company to expand its testing and evaluation laboratory capacity and ensure sustainable growth while maintaining its export focus. In addition, through our investments in digital-marketing company Wask via our Technology and Innovation Fund and in holistic resource-management company Fazla via our Capital Fund, we take an active role in developing Türkiye’s venture-capital ecosystem.”
