TKYB and AIIB Provide USD 200 Million in Financing for Türkiye’s Climate and Digital Transformation

Continuing its activities without slowing down in line with Türkiye’s sustainable and inclusive development objectives, Development and Investment Bank of Türkiye added another initiative to its cooperation with international development finance institutions. By signing a financing agreement equivalent to a total of USD 200 million with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to support projects focused on combating climate change and developing digital infrastructure, TKYB continues to add value to Türkiye’s sustainable growth.

The financing, secured under a repayment guarantee from the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance, strengthens the long-term cooperation between TKYB and AIIB while representing an important step towards scaling up climate-friendly infrastructure and technological innovation across the country.

Commenting on the agreement TKYB CEO İbrahim Öztop said: “We are delighted that this financing agreement with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will contribute directly to Türkiye’s clean energy, digital-transformation and sustainable-growth objectives. By providing long-term resources for green energy investments, the loan will help industrial companies both improve their energy efficiency and gain a competitive advantage globally. At the same time, the loan will enable businesses to strengthen their climate resilience and finance investments in digital infrastructure.”

Kim-See Lim, Chief Investment Officer responsible for Public Sector (Region 1), Financial Institutions and Funds clients at AIIB, said: “This financing is an important indication of AIIB’s support for its members in achieving their national climate objectives and accelerating digital transformation. Through our cooperation with TKYB, we aim to enable stronger private-sector participation in climate and digital-transformation investments in Türkiye’s energy and manufacturing sectors.”

With this agreement, TKYB and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have entered into macro-scale cooperation for the fourth time, bringing a total of USD 800 million in resources to Türkiye since 2019.
